Settling in for the night…

Hey there, beautiful.

Not a lot of energy tonight… just enough to imagine…

Crawling into bed behind you. Smelling your hair as I wrap an arm around you, and you snuggle back into me… 
You take my hand and bring it to your lips, give it a kiss, a sleepy "love you" slipping from you.
I bury my face even deeper into those locks as I squeeze and say "I know."
And even there in the dark, facing away from me, I can sense your smile as your shake your head…

“You might be a big, dumb man…” you whisper, sleepily.
"But you're my big dumb man."
And the weariness of the day finally pulls you under.

But now I'm smiling, too.
